Chechnya - Possible solutions

Now I know we still have a coupla of topics to discuss from applications but I feel this one is a conversation one.

With the end of the russian siege and the current death toll standing at 322, what do people think was the cause of this siege?
Also, how do people think Russia should continue after this?

Current Mood: morbid

This is such a tragic, tricky and impossible topic to ever really answer...
Whatever the cause of the siege it was of the cruelest most devastating kind, maybe it was thought if it was carried out in a school would attract more attention and the president would be more likely to reason with them, but then again why did they fire first? Whats the resoning behind that?
Its so hard to understand people behind cruel acts like this because there is no possible sane reason behind all of it, there is no justification, just pure evil

I think its going to be extremely hard for Russia to continue after this and work round how it happened and find out all the facts and more importantly prevent anything like it happening again. i know if i was involved in this seige, whether i was a victim or a family member of the victims, i honestly dont know how and what id do after its all over, i cant imagine what its like for the Russians right now, I cant possibly imagine what everyone involved is going through

Its very tricky to discuss, or think about because it is so emotional and so hard to understand, i know when i first heard about it i felt so blank, like i couldnt believe what i was seeing, what people in the world actually do, to get their own way, to get power...it just makes you think, what is the world coming to? and whats going to happen next?

god, i really dont know where to start on this one and i cant begin to understand why they felt the need to do this.
a random school, with random people/kids in it .. where do you prove a point?

ok we are gonna take hostage of X children and X adults and randomly kill them or blow them up if you dont free prisoners/or acknowledge our cause... i mean did they expect for the russian government to just say.. *oh ok... you have killed our ppl, and more so our kids, have what you want! do you want a cigar with that???
FUCKERS!

yes its a different world to what you and i live in and i suppose that we can never put ourselves in their shoes, our country works in a totally different way and i suppose to an extent we should be greatful for that! (now dont get me mixed up with some one that likes the way britian is.. oh no! but thats a different topic entirely!) BUT in my mind these are just pure and simple child killers and murderers!

and how should russia act after this? well i know one thing for sure- not like america and the uk did!...i think that they should learn from that then take appropriate action- whatever that might be!

my thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the survivors because i think that they wil also carry the experience to their graves
xx
